Imagine having two private accommodations for you and your friends in a historic New Orleans bed and breakfast — right where the rollicking French Quarter scene spills into the famous jazz dens of Frenchmen Street.
Close-together yet separate.
Perfect for two couples traveling together.
Located on the grounds of the stately Lanaux Mansion — itself a piece of New Orleans history — these two lodgings combine all the grace and charm of a bygone era with every modern comfort you could want — wi-fi, air conditioning, kitchenettes, private bathrooms, smart HDTVs, and relaxing garden courtyards for cocktails and coffees.
Our spacious Wieland Suite is set into the ground floor of the mansion itself and features a huge bedroom with high, vaulted ceilings; a large kitchenette/dining area; a laundry room with your own washer and dryer; and a full-sized refrigerator to hold your groceries, cold drinks, and leftovers from those traditionally over-sized New Orleans feasts.
Just across the courtyard is Sophie’s Enchanted Cottage, a cozy, free-standing building that once served as the mansion’s kitchen storehouse, also with airy ceilings and large windows to let in plenty of natural light. Whitewashed-brick walls and tastefully rustic decor make the Cottage as homey as it is handsome.
Like the Wieland Suite, this rare cottage rental in the French Quarter also has its own kitchenette, a gorgeous renovated bathroom, and sitting areas for when you need to get some work done or just want to chill out with a cold one.
Not to mention a private garden courtyard of its own, fountain included.
Both properties are part of the Lanaux Mansion on Esplanade Avenue but are accessed through a private gate off Chartres Street, less than a block from the epicenter of New Orleans jazz and blues (a.k.a. Frenchman Street) in the Faubourg Marigny.
Not only that: The French Quarter, the French Market, Bourbon Street, and the Mississippi riverfront — each vibrant with unforgettable sights, scents, flavors, and sounds — are all within a two-block stroll.
Everything you need is right here for you, though we imagine you won’t be spending too much time inside. After all, you’re mere steps away from the city’s best entertainment, restaurants, and bars.
You couldn’t possibly see and do all that New Orleans has to offer in one visit . . . but you can sure have fun trying!
