You might recognize this historic New Orleans B&B from “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” or one of the other films and shows in which it’s appeared. It’s a star with a fascinating past.
Since 1879, the house has played host to not only actors and movie crews, but to prominent figures of history and culture. Some even claim there’s a ghost among its list of distinguished guests.
Civil War-era wallpaper still adorns the downstairs parlors, as does much of the home’s original furniture. Vaulted ceilings soar high overhead. And the decor is a fine mix of classic period architecture and stylish upscale amenities.
Everything is set up for your comfortable and convenience at these New Orleans luxury suites, all with kitchenettes, private bathrooms, A/C, wi-fi, and smart TVs.

WORDS FROM OUR HAPPY GUESTS
We like the 19th Century, and this was an easy journey back to a time when craftsmanship mattered and elegance was expected. The look and feel of the mansion was like stepping through a window in time, and while that means there are certain modern amenities that aren’t there, all the essential ones are. Preparing food was a challenge because the city prohibits ovens and ranges, but the hot pot and microwave offered workarounds for anyone imaginative. The full size fridge was stocked with juice and milk, the coffeemaker was convenient, and the choice of coffee, tea, and snacks was more than sufficient (and more than we expected). All our inquiries were answered in minutes, offering more information than we realized would be useful; a genuine benefit. We were ready to move in and, if we can anticipate New Orleans weather more accurately in the future (March is supposed to be cool… and the temperatures were in the eighties for the entire week), we’d eagerly book the mansion again.

I’m not lying when I say this is the absolute best location to stay in all of the city. Walk out the door. Pick any direction. Within 5 minutes you are already in the thick of the action. Days of things to do without ever getting in a ride share. I can’t wait to go back.

We loved our stay at the Lanaux! It was a great distance from everything. A couple minutes walk from the quarter but also just far enough away from all the craziness late at night. Beth was very attentive to us and made sure we were taken care of. It was so fun sitting on the balcony for people watching and the mansion was actually a stop for a few historical tours. It was fun to listen about the history of the house! This place made us feel so at home. We definitely recommend it!

This place was INCREDIBLE! If you want an authentic New Orleans experience look no further. This home was absolutely beautiful and rich with history. We were lucky enough to see Beth on-site and she willingly showed us some of the amazing common areas as well as gave us a complete history of facts about previous owners, neighbors, and the mansion itself. Aside from the authenticity of the mansion, the Amenities were outstanding! During the hot humid summer days, we were always so refreshed to get back into our room which was fully air-conditioned and kept our living space relaxing! Places in New Orleans rarely keep up with the heat so this was a massive plus! Perfect kitchen with mini-fridge and coffee stocked! If staying in New Orleans you do not need a room that offers a full kitchen!! The food walking distance away is delicious!!! Location: PERFECTLY LOCATED!!! Just a few blocks away from the craziness of bourbon street so you can actually sleep at night! If staying in New Orleans I would suggest NOT staying on bourbon. It’s an amusing attraction, but NOT a place to stay. This neighborhood was surrounded by other beautiful houses and had ample parking. It was also a very safe neighborhood compared to some spots in the area. We utilized a paid lot just a block away so we didn’t have to stress about our car. 15-minute walk to bourbon street! 4-minute walk to the best Jazz clubs the area offers!! Overall this experience was 10/10!! Accommodations were sparkling clean, rooms were huge!! 14-foot ceiling! The beds were the highest quality comfortable. Truly not one square inch of this place has not been intentionally created for the most desirable experience. Thank you Beth!! Your passion and detailed work in this house is incredible. See you next time we are in town! Cheers!

You couldn’t ask for a better location, a better price or a better experience. Everything worthwhile was within walking distance, the layout is spacious and quaint and the history, as real as it gets. The bed is big and comfy and we were able to use the space and courtyard to unwind in between the morning and dusk. Would definitely return, and plan to.

Fantastic cottage. My wife and I stayed for our wedding anniversary. The cottage was clean and had everything you could need. The bed was very comfortable, with good sheets and good pillows. The TV was perfectly placed in front of the bed with access to HBO, Hulu and other apps. The shower is large and comfortable. Filtered water in the kitchen was a nice surprise. The courtyard out front was beautiful and a great spot to enjoy the night with the string lights and fountain. The location is prime. No need to drive. In walking distance from everywhere in the French Quarter. It’s an easy less than ten min walk to Jackson Square. It is also very safe with an exterior key code so no one can approach your door. We plan to visit again someday and this is without a doubt where we will stay each time we visit. Great hosts, easy to speak with and quick response time. Couldn’t recommend this place more.

The Mansion met all of our expectations. We had the entire upper level of the house. We started with 7 and by the time we were scheduled to arrive, we had 9 on our girl’s trip. Beth and her co-host Andrea worked to make our stay as comfortable as possible adding a blowup bed and extra supplies. The bathroom was supplied with shampoo, conditioner and body wash with plenty of towels. Even with 9 people, we never ran out of hot water. The two kitchenettes were supplied with all the essentials including breakfast items like oatmeal, yogurt, breakfast biscuits, orange juice and milk. As far as location it couldn’t have been better. The French Quarter started across the street and it was no more than a fifteen-minute walk to everywhere we wanted to go. if you’re looking for the perfect location, a beautiful home and great Hosts to work with I highly recommend you stop looking and pick Lanaux Mansion.

Beautiful home, wonderful host, we’ve already rebooked for a future trip! My husband and I just love visiting New Orleans, and this trip was extra-special because of these fabulous accommodations. Beth is great at communicating, has a wonderful system set up for contactless, safe check in and out and the space was absolutely the best! I would say “exactly as described”, but in actuality it was MUCH BETTER than described. The location and history of this space is just awesome and it’s so easy to get to almost any attraction in town, but yet it’s a block off of the French Quarter, which was nice. Our favorite thing about NOLA is the food and music scene, and this location gives you best access to both. The balcony became our favorite retreat: We spent countless hours enjoying the breeze and watching life in the French quarter go by. I can’t think of any other space in NOLA that Ive ever stayed in that I like as much as this one.

Our family of four stayed in the Lanaux Suite. It was the perfect size for us and our teenagers. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. Excellent location. We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony. The host provided quick and informative communication. We would stay here again!
Brandi
Lovely space, classic New Orleans charm – Great location – Excellent touches in the room – great communication with the host. – Would stay again

A hidden gem placed in the midst of history, good times and easy breathin’! Andrea was fabulous and Jackie, the housekeeper, had the cottage spotless. Their timeliness and attention to my needs and that of the property was impeccable. I highly recommend!

Beth and Andrea were communicative, accommodating and gracious hosts. The check-in process was very easy. I’m a frequent traveler to New Orleans, and this Airbnb is up there if not better than any accomodations, hotel or rental, I’ve stayed in a long time. The attention to detail is great and transports you to New Orleans a century or more ago. The location is about as perfect as can be. You have the French Quarter at your front door but have Esplanade as your natural barrier from the FQ hustle and bustle. And with Frenchman and the Marigny behind the building, you are set up to travel New Orleans the right way.

We stayed in the Balcony Suite. It was PERFECT! The location is easily walkable to Bourbon, Frenchman, and Decatur. No keys necessary with an electronic keypad. That made things convenient. We felt very safe in the house. Instructions sent about check-in, check-out, and general things about our stay were easy and straightforward. Super easy check-in and check-out. The house is beautiful and charming! Our room at the front of the house had beautiful décor, plenty of space and sitting areas, and was perfectly clean upon arrival. Spacious and beautiful bathroom with plenty of towels. A small kitchen stocked with coffee and a few other staples was really nice to have. The private front balcony was perfect for morning coffee and evening people-watching. The A/C unit kept us nice and cool from the outside heat. We have no complaints about our stay! Beth was practically instantaneous at replying to the few questions we had prior to our arrival. Great communication. We highly recommend renting from Beth!

My wife and I stayed in The Cottage and we were very happy with our accommodations! Our host, Beth, was very welcoming, kind and friendly. Upon entering The Cottage, we were so happy to see a freshly decorated, clean and spacious room. We were so comfortable and relaxed when in our room. Being able to have a kitchenette was awesome as well! The Cottage is so closely located to the hustle and bustle of the heart of New Orleans’ hot spots that we walked everywhere we wanted to go! But the amazing part of The Cottage is that even though it’s close and within walking distance, it was so quiet and peaceful at night that we had restful sleep. We definitely would recommend this property to anyone who wants to visit New Orleans. And if we ever visit again, we will surely book the Cottage!
Michael
The most beautiful suite we have ever stayed in, location was superb-as well as safety. Details galore and communication was more than perfect!
Michelle
Absolutely beautiful home just a few blocks from the French Quarter! The cottage suite was comfortable and spacious, which was much appreciated after a long day of walking around the city. Thanks for a great stay!
Michele
Cannot say enough good things about this house and the hosts! Gorgeous suite, the bed was comfortable, those ceilings are amazing and the a/c was perfect when coming inside from the New Orleans heat. Everything we wanted or needed was available – loved the orange juice in the fridge and the coffee setup in the kitchen. The location is PERFECT! Literally around the corner from Frenchman St. We will definitely check to stay here next time we’re in NOLA!
Michelle
Cannot say enough about this wonderful listing. We were so fortunate to have visited during the Holidays as the mansion was decorated up and felt so festive. The location was absolutely perfect for us as we enjoy both the rambunctious Bourbon Street, about a ten-minute walk; and her less audacious sister Frenchman Street which was just around the corner. So many great places to eat within walking distance. Check-in was a breeze. Felt safe and secure the entire time. A couple of little issues popped up but Beth was quick to communicate and remedy the situation. No doubt we would recommend this jewel of a place. We feel fortunate to have been able to experience one of our favorite places on earth at the Lanaux Mansion.
Jill
Great location, clean, and comfortable! Highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a place to call home away from home while visiting NOLA! Beth provides juice, oatmeal, granola bars, and yogurt as breakfast. We mostly used them as quick snacks! Her space is right around the corner of Frenchmen street and close to bourbon street and an easy walk away from the city area as well! Cute courtyard and a lovely water fountain outside the door. Thank you for having us!

Fully immerse yourself in New Orleans with a stay at this historical house! When you are in a city like NOLA why stay in a regular hotel? The Lanaux Mansion provides a perfect location and setting for your stay. We booked the 2-bedroom Lanaux Suite for our 4-person family. The two bedrooms were large and spacious. One bedroom has a daybed, so you could sleep up to 6 in the suite. The other bedroom had a fabulous balcony that looked out on Esplanade Avenue. At night you could sip a drink on the balcony and hear the jazz music of Frenchman Street in the distance, but when you when back into the room and closed the window, all was quiet. The king-sized beds were extremely comfortable. Each bedroom had individual air conditioning units, so you could control the temps for comfortable sleeping. (Be kind and don’t run it full blast when out during the day.) The rooms share a bathroom, which has 2 parts, the first with the toilet & sink and a separate room with small shower tub & make-up room/dressing area. There is also a very small kitchenette that had a regular coffee maker, Keurig, microwave, dorm size fridge & freezer & sink, plus cups, plates & cutlery. The owner left some bottled water & juice in the fridge & had some coffee, teas, sugar/creamers, plus a couple of small snacks like oatmeal & granola if you arrive completely starving. The outside is secured with a coded double entrance, plus your individual rooms also are opened with the same system, so you don’t have to worry about carrying or losing keys. It was just as advertised on the Airbnb site, so there were no surprises or misleading information. The location is perfect. Esplanade Avenue forms the eastern border of the French Quarter, so you are close to all the action, but not subjected to the loud craziness at night. It is a block away from the famous Frenchman Street, which has a multitude of jazz clubs playing live music every night. You are also close to the French Market, which has several quality food stands & plenty of places for reasonable souvenir shopping. (Our favorites were Mother Nature’s Cupboard for friend alligator bites & frog legs; Alberto’s Cheese & Wine Bistro for muffulettas, and Loretta’s for beignets & pralines.) Beth communicated clearly and promptly answered questions. She also allowed up a safe place to store luggage when we arrived earlier than check-in and didn’t need to get to the airport until after checkout on our departure day, which was greatly appreciated. All of this made for a very happy and successful first trip to New Orleans for our family.
