Ruthie’s Balcony Suite bears the name of our beloved family matriarch. And for good reason. Occupying nearly a third of the mansion’s second floor, and with its own balcony looking into the Quarter, this is the flagship accommodation in our historic New Orleans bed and breakfast.

It features a spacious living area, newly redecorated private bathroom, and a large, sunny kitchenette with everything you need to warm your food and chill your drinks — including a microwave, a toaster, a coffee & tea station, flatware, tableware, and a full-sized fridge to hold groceries and leftovers from those massive French Quarter meals.

Beautifully renovated, the suite combines the classic architecture and detailing of the period with the modern comforts you want — wi-fi, air conditioning, smart HDTV, a ridiculously comfortable queen-sized pillow-top mattress, and much more.

And did we mention the private wrought-iron balcony that wraps the front of the house? Overlooking the corner of Esplanade and Chartres, it’s the perfect place to people-watch while enjoying the pot pourri of sounds that drift over from the nearby markets, jazz clubs, and bustling Mississippi waterfront.

Oh, and don’t miss the sunsets from up here. They’re pretty hard to beat.

Everything you need is right here for you in Ruthie’s Balcony Suite, though we imagine you won’t spend too much time inside. After all, you’re just steps away from the city’s best entertainment, restaurants, and bars, and New Orleans is calling your name.

Occupying nearly a third of the mansion’s 2nd floor, this is our premier accommodation.
Up to 3 Guests
The luxurious queen-size bed sleeps two, with room for a third on the 7.5-foot couch if necessary.
Check-in / Check-out
Check-in time is 3 p.m. or later, and check-out time is 11 a.m. Again, we operate by keyless/contactless keypad so you can come and go as you wish. For early arrivals and late departures, no worries! We can securely store your luggage.
Access to the Mansion
Entrance and exit to the Mansion and your room are all by keypad, offering keyless and contactless entry and exit. Your code will be provided to you in your pre-arrival information. Ruthie’s Balcony Suite is on our second floor at the top of the staircase.
Complimentary Continental Breakfast
Continental Breakfast is provided in your room to enjoy at your leisure. It consists of coffee, tea, juice, yogurt, oatmeal, and healthy breakfast bars. (Subject to change based on availability).
Bedding
Pillowtop mattress, 500 + thread count linens, foam and feather pillows, luxurious spreads and throw pillows.
Wi-Fi
Complimentary wi-fi is provided throughout the mansion. Login and password are provided to you in your pre-arrival information as well as our in-room manual.

There is a complimentary washer and dryer at the back of the main house on the ground floor, just off the main courtyard. Laundry soap is provided.

Each room is equipped with an individually controlled cooling and heating system, with your choice of automatic or always-on settings.
Parking
New Orleans is a very walkable city. A car is generally not necessary. Our location is perfect for walking as we are right on the border that separates the French Quarter from the Faubourg Marigny and Frenchmen Street.

We are one block from the Riverfront Streetcar and several bike rental shops, as well as on the RTA (Regional Transit Authority) routes for bus service. Uber cars and taxis are easily accessible as well. Should you decide to drive, parking can be booked with us in advance, subject to availability.

Noise
New Orleans is known for its good times and late nights. When the City is full, guests who are light sleepers need not be disturbed as we provide a sound machine and ear plugs in each room.
No Smoking
The Lanaux Mansion is a nonsmoking facility to protect the historic integrity of the property, as well as guests who may have allergies.

Ruthie’s Balcony Suite is an accommodation in the five-bedroom/four-bath French Quarter Lanaux Mansion, a historic home that literally straddles the line between the French Quarter and Faubourg Marigny, often known simply as Frenchmen Street. Ruthie’s balcony overlooks prestigious Esplanade Avenue and has a Queen bed as well as a 7.5-foot couch to sleep on if needed, a kitchenette, a large bathroom with plenty of drawer storage, and a large closet, HDTV, and an expandable breakfast/work table.

Cancellation Policy

100% refund if you cancel at least 30 days before check-in.
50% refund (minus the service fee) if you cancel at least 14 days before check-in.
No refund if you cancel less than 14 days before check-in.

Damage and Incidentals

You will be responsible for any damage to the rental property caused by you or your party during your stay.
